Haag Seminar:
Structural Framing Damage Assessment
Structural Framing Damage Assessment provides a good working knowledge of wood framing construction, and how problems develop. We discuss the International Building Code and how it relates to exterior and interior walls, framed windows, ceilings and floors, and roof framing. We take a detailed look at construction deficiencies and storm damage, specifically tornadoes and hurricanes. Case studies illustrate proper fastening of wood framed structures in order to best defend against wind/storm damage. We teach students to discern between proper/improper framing techniques and to understand the effects faulty construction has on finish veneers, as well as assessing damage or movement of the frame. Finally, we present repair options/issues.
