Tim Marshall to Navigate Onboard Probe 8 Vehicle

Tim Marshall has been selected as navigator onboard the Probe 8 vehicle during VORTEX 2, a field experiment that will run from MAY 1 through JUNE 15, 2009 in the central and southern plains.  He will be responsible for deploying meteorological instruments in the paths of approaching tornadoes.  Tim will join a group of top notch scientists in their effort to explore the structure and evolution of tornadoes.  The expedition also will involve the use of several mobile radars, unmanned instrumented aircraft, mobile ballooning facilities, and mobile mesonets.  The multimillion dollar project has been funded by the National Science Foundation.  For more information, check out the website.
