The IBL-7 Ice Ball Launcher

The Haag IBL-7 Ice Ball Launcher is used to impact roofing and other materials with simulated hailstones. Samples are mounted onto test panels that simulate real-life support conditions. The sample is then targeted at specific locations for impacts. The IBL-7 can produce velocities that achieve real-world, free-fall or wind-driven conditions. The IBL-7 can launch ice balls as small as 1/2 inch in diameter up to 2-1/4 inches in diameter. Once the samples are impacted, they are examined with a variety of techniques for failure.

A metric version, The IBL-7M, isalso available. The IBL-7M can launch ice balls as small as 12.5mm in diameter and up to 55mm in diameter.
