Wind Induced Failures

Why is engineering expertise needed on these events?
Severe wind was the catalyst for failure in all of these events, but many questions remained as to the appropriate performance of the structure and the integrity of the remaining structure to determine if repair or replacement was required. All three structures performed adequately -- given the winds they were subjected to. The radio transmission tower was replaced, while the residential home was repaired. It was determined that the structural integrity of the Cash America office building was not compromised; consequently, the building was repaired and is still in use today.
