Haag Engineering Co. Failure and Damage s

History

Haag Engineering Co. was founded in 1924 when Walter G. Haag, a civil engineer with a quarter century experience, established a consulting office in Dallas, Texas, to provide the service of establishing facility values after losses. Over the years, he began to look into causes of loss as well.

In 1927, he took the name Haag Engineering Company. He operated as a sole practitioner until 1946, when he hired Charles Wayne Parish. Mr. Parish was educated as a chemical engineer and recently had completed a World War II tour of duty with the Air Force as a facilities engineer in the South Pacific.

Mr. Parish assumed increasing leadership in the company until in 1956, the firm was purchased from Mr. Haag and later incorporated as Haag Engineering Co. The Houston office was established in 1961, just in time for Hurricane Carla. In 1966, Staff Laboratories was merged into Haag Engineering Co. An Albuquerque office was in operation from 1961 through 1970, and a New Orleans office from 1974 through July 1993. The Tampa office was established in February 1997.

Growth has resulted in increased areas of technical expertise as well as numbers of technical staff. Professional staff are educated and experienced in disciplines ranging alphabetically from Aeronautical through Structural Engineering.
